Windows 7 running Pro Engineer

Windows 7 running Pro Engineer

With the release of Microsoft's new beta release of Windows known as 7 at this point we felt obligated here at the Guru headquarters to load up a Quad core machine with both Vista and Windows 7, and fire up a seat of Pro/E to see the results. Our first run at Pro/E on Vista was Horrible and a total failure; this newer hardware and Vista SP1 runs Pro E just fine, as a matter of fact it seems to run as well as XP does and has a little softer/fancier look to it. Windows 7 fired up and threw the discs in of Wildfire 3 in and loaded it up, it loaded perfectly had no trouble finding the license server and was up and running in just minutes, as far as installing and things it seems far faster (I wish we would have timed the install) Windows 7 overall is an awesome build of Windows, I hope Microsoft doesn't blow it up by the time it hits the real market.

As for performance of Pro Engineer on Windows 7 it seems to run okay besides the Graphics are a little clunky but we never looked for video drivers or anything, just a base load of 7; and remember its Beta version of the OS. We hope to do a little bench marking from one OS to another (XP - Vista - 7) so stay tuned, and feel free to give us feedback of your experiences.
