Reference Scope - Copy Geometry

Pro/Engineer has a ton of ways to get geometry information from one model to another such as publishing your geometry, or copy from other model, one we are covering today is a quick (I call cheating) way to get model geometry from one model to another, I have seen it used to copy surface references from a part into a model to build a tool for making the part. if you assemble your original model into an assembly then assemble a blank part that will become your tool you can 'activate' the blank part and copy surfaces from the original model into you "tool".

Pro Engineer Config

Pro Engineer uses various configuration files when it is launched to give you the look, feel, and functions you desire. The first is a config.pro, this is a Text file that stores info such as paths, mapkeys, specific cofiguration settings for your install of Pro/E. Next is the config.win, this is a file that controls more of the look of Pro/E such as what Icons show up and what menus and location of these icons and menus.

2 Network Card Registry Pro E fix

Since Pro/Engineer uses the network MAC address as its key for licensing I find myself running into trouble every time I build a new machine, most of the new machines have onboard network adapters and my Pro E license is tied to a card Imove machine to machine; so in order for your license to work correctly you must "re-arrange" the order of the multiple network adapters in Windows Regisrty.

You will need to do some registry editing to tell Windows which one is the primary MAC address.

Pro Engineer on Windows Vista

Well… at work this week we decided it was time for me to get a new workstation (I do engineering using Pro Engineer); my last workstation we built using an AMD Athlon 64 and it has been an awesome machine; after looking at pricing ofbuilding our own, we thought we would give buying one a try instead of building one. The only reason we thought of buying was is that we took a machine that one other guy at work had bought for a home PC, it was an HP Pavilion; it uses an athlon 64 x2 4600 many steps faster than my two year old PC we had built.
