Accuracy between parts
Posted October 12th, 2011 by adminIn order to use the Master Model / Merge technique or the Copy Geom in Pro/Engineer its a good idea to set you models that are inheriting the geometry to Absolute Accuracy versus Relative. to do this you must have a Config.Pro setting "enable_absolute_accuracy" set to yes, then you will see the option to copy the accuracy setting from the master part.
Model Tree Symbols, AKA Glyph
Posted January 26th, 2011 by adminEvery now and then here at the Guru Headquarters we run into something that takes some research to figure out what PTC was doing, well here is one of them. In the assembly model tree there is a little symbol that shows if a component (or feature) is fully defined or suppressed, frozen, packaged.. ETC. well I found the name and a chart of what they are. Not sure why the name "Glyph" but the attached image shows what they are.
Show/Erase

Posted August 24th, 2009 by adminOnce and a while you run into a need to do an off the wall thing in Pro/E such as using Superscript and subscript text in a note. On a Pro Engineer drawing you can fill in parts of a note using parameters from the model such as the thickness of material used (can be any parameter) using text &thickness in a note will take the information from the Model parameter for thickness and insert it in your note, well I recently ran into a situation where the thickness was in a parameter and needed to be called out in a note but had a non-symmetrical Tolerance.
Windows 7 running Pro Engineer
Posted January 22nd, 2009 by adminWith the release of Microsoft's new beta release of Windows known as 7 at this point we felt obligated here at the Guru headquarters to load up a Quad core machine with both Vista and Windows 7, and fire up a seat of Pro/E to see the results. Our first run at Pro/E on Vista was Horrible and a total failure; this newer hardware and Vista SP1 runs Pro E just fine, as a matter of fact it seems to run as well as XP does and has a little softer/fancier look to it.
Sketcher References
Posted June 6th, 2008 by adminIn both Wildfire 3 and Wildfire 4 you can use a config option for different ways to select sketcher references; 0,1,2 you can select it how many references Pro/E sketcher will automatically select
sketcher_auto_create_refs
set it to either 0,1, or 2
Save As Tip
Posted June 2nd, 2008 by adminOne quick tip that you can set in your config file to speed up the save as process, when ever you create a part, do the drawing to go along with it (named the same always) and if you place RENAME_DRAWINGS_WITH_OBJECT to BOTH in your config.pro setup file now when you do a save as of the original part you will also get a new drawing to boot, and in a later tip we will go over doing this same thing in an assembly and end up with a whole group of Parts and Drawings for "Free".
